EDI MAGI, Castiglion Fiorentino

Edi Magi was born in Castiglion Fiorentino, a beautiful town of Etruscan origin in the hills of central Tuscany, a place full of archaeological, artistic and cultural heritage. Certain references collected during her travels, often appear in her work. She delicately balances a blend of both traditional and contemporary, giving rise to innovative, fresh and energetic forms. Her working with clay was born from pure curiosity. She began to actively explore ceramics in the early 1990′s, working with established masters of the craft, learning a wide range of techniques, decoration and firing. She then went on her own way, taking on a new direction as she challenged the new medium. Her recent works have surfaces that are often treated in relief, smooth or scratched, delicately decorated with layers of colour, thus giving subtle movement to her work.
