CASTELLO DI RIPA D’ORCIA, Castiglione d’Orcia

La Fattoria di Ripa d’Orcia gets its name from the Castle of Ripa d’Orcia which has been representing the heart of the Farm Estate since his construction (XIII cent.). Since 1484 the Castle and its land belong to the noble sienese family of Piccolomini (and descendants). The Castle of Ripa d’Orcia, a mediaeval hamlet turned to a comfortable country residence, offers to his guests and visitors a unique way of exploring the surroundings along with the tasting of the delicious homemade products. With more than 300 hectares located at the very heart of the Orcia valley the Castle Estate has been producing fine wines and superb extravirgin olive oil for centuries combining the family traditions with modern techniques. The wines of the Castle are the result of the climate, the soil and the human culture. Along with the natural characteristics of the area the methods of cultivation are aiming to obtain high quality products.
