At the beginning of 2005 on the Monte Cavallo hills close to Terme di Saturnia, in a position of breathtaking beauty, Fattoria La Maliosa was born as Antonella Manuli’s idea of natural farming, based on quality rather than quantity. Not a marketing concept or an ecological obsession, but respect of local traditions and environmental biodiversity. The choice of Biodynamic Agriculture was immediate and fundamental to increase biodiversity and the soil’s fertility. The year 2009 was dedicated to the expansion of vineyards and olive groves, and the first production of oil and wine from the old vineyards was obtained: a red and a white “orange” wine, macerated on the skins. In 2010 La Maliosa obtained both the organic and the biodynamic (Demeter) certifications.
The constant commitment in the vineyards and in the fields allows us to get unique and precious products with a distinct authentic, proudly sincere flavor, result of a serene cooperation with nature. Numerous awards and prizes were obtained in a short time, such as the inclusion in the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Slow Food Guide and the 2013 Maestrod’olio Crown award by the Maestrod’olio Academy in Lucca, while the La Maliosa Bianco 2010 wine was included in the Gambero Rosso 2012 Guide.
